This is why the Japanese have noodles as a staple food while the Americans have a variety to choose from.

The same applies to the French where beans are a staple food because of their long relations to the food while right here in Philippines the staple food is rice. Food also plays a huge part in the occasions in the cultures of people so it’s often easy to attribute a certain food to a certain tribe like the New yam festival and the Eastern people of Nigeria.

Food also helps people to understand not just the culture of a people but also their status in the society and this became more prominent with the introduction of branded food items which has compounded food as a status symbol food for the upper class. In Italy for instance, Eating fast is not a part of their culture so patronizing take outs is not peculiar to them.

In Philippines people are beginning to gravitate away from bingeing on just rice to enjoy some satisfying snacks that make their taste bud feel great especially given the fact that they consume about 5 small meals each day and this shows that as a people they enjoy and embrace diversity regardless of the form that it comes in.
